19 June 2011 – Fathers’ Day was celebrated by a large gathering of dads and families at the SAFRA Football Fest. Held at the SAFRA Tampines Clubhouse, the soccer extravaganza provided lots of fun-filled activities and was certainly a memorable way to spend the day.

The event comprised of Four-A-Side Theme Up! football played on the synthetic turf pitches of the futsal courts, which were decorated to themes such as: Crime Scene, Classroom, Garden and Battlefield. This contest was combined with circuit challenges for father-and-son teams to test out their soccer skills, and win Dads for Life medals, trophies and other valuable prizes.

While the teams played their games through a mini league-and-elimination format, those who came to cheer on them on, were entertained by the resident emcees and thumping beats from the DJ’s console.

More than just a soccer event, both the participants and spectators got to enjoy music and exciting commentary, along with balloons and ice cream. They also crowded around pizza stations and novelty game stations for more fun and food.

The event even featured a celebrity football dad – one whom our sharp-eyed readers are sure to be able to spot in our photos.

A professional cheerleading squad took centre stage, to thrill the families during a break in the games. They performed gravity-defying flips and tosses, causing more than one spectator to stand with their mouths agape while watching the death-defying act.

The event truly consisted all the best things about Fathers’ Day – giving time for Dad to enjoy what he loves with the ones he loves most. Enjoy the photos, which show, much better than words can say, “Dads and families having fun together.”
