Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports launched Fathers@Schools and the Dads for Life website at North View Primary School this evening. Speaking to audience of close to 200 school administrators and parents, with his 3-year old son, Luke, perched on his right, he said, "We need to do our bit as fathers for several reasons . . . our children need us, ... our wives want us to do so, but perhaps most important, we do it for our own sakes." "Today", he added, "we're trying to encourage more fathers to get involved in schools, to be a part of an environment that imparts values, attitudes and perspectives of our children."  Reminding the audience, especially fathers in the audience of their journeys and roles, he said, "Remember, it's a one-way ticket, so don't miss this ride. ... It is the best part of life!"
